The common linnet (Linaria cannabina) is a small passerine bird of the finch family, Fringillidae. The forehead of the male bird is dark red, the base of the forehead is gray, the top of the head, pillow, and nape of the neck are gray-brown, and the top of the head has thin but inconspicuous dark longitudinal stripes. The back is chestnut, the waist is pink and white. The tail coverts are black with a wide white feather margin, the tail feathers are black, and the outer feather margin and inner feathers are mostly white.
