Shikra bird
The shikra bird (Accipiter badius) is a small bird of prey in the family Accipitridae. The upper body is gray, the lower body has russet horizontal spots, the bill is dark brown, and the feet are brownish yellow. Active on forest margins and savannah slopes. It often hovers around the outskirts of forest areas and the open areas of plains, and sometimes gently flaps its wings. It has sharp eyesight, and once it finds prey in the forest or on the ground, it will pounce at the speed of an arrow, grab the prey with its sharp claws and take off again, and tear and eat in secluded places. The food is rodents, small birds and Orthoptera insects.
